About the Department The Department of Computer Technologies Engineering is one of the departments of the College of Technical Engineering at the Islamic University of Najaf Al-Ashraf. It is among the oldest scientific departments in the university, founded in 2006-2007. The department specializes in preparing applied engineers with the capability to design, install, operate, and maintain computer systems and related devices, keeping pace with modern technological developments in the fields of informatics and communications. The department grants a Bachelor of Engineering degree after four years of study, and adheres to the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to keep pace with the rapid scientific and technological advances in computer technology.
The department's vision stems from our tolerant Islamic creed and ancient civilization, and the absolute belief in the inevitability of progress and advancement in knowledge fields in general — and in particular the knowledge required by the mechanisms of dealing with computers and the technologies and communications information associated with that. Therefore, our vision is centered on developing the human capacities that come to us as students and faculty members. In the field of students, this involves preparing applied engineers with the ability to design, install, operate, and maintain all computer systems and related devices, capable of keeping pace with modern knowledge developments in computer engineering, with emphasis on teaching scientific thinking systematically in behavior and practice. For faculty and assistants, work is done to identify a hierarchical structure for experts through their scientific research activities, scientific seminars, and conferences, in order to establish a university hierarchical structure for specializations that would propose everything that activates scientific and practical progress in the department.
Department History The Department of Computer Technologies Engineering was founded at the College of Technical Engineering / Islamic University in 2006-2007, making it one of the oldest scientific departments established in the Islamic University. It welcomed its first cohort of students in the academic year 2006-2007. The department began graduating students in 2010, and has since produced a wide spectrum of successful and distinguished graduates across scientific, administrative, technical, and practical fields. The Islamic University is one of the private higher education universities accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The department follows applicable regulations and complies with the Ministry's directives to keep pace with scientific and technological developments in computer engineering and its practical applications, particularly in the fields of informatics and communications. The department adopts an annual educational system with a four-year study duration, during which students receive the scientific aspects related to computers and their practical applications guided by the department's vision, mission, and objectives. Graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
The Department of Computer Technologies Engineering adopts a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at developing academic programs in computer technology, enhancing students' skills in logical thinking, programming, and applied engineering design, and improving the efficiency of the teaching staff to keep pace with rapid technological developments in computing and communications.
